The Boy in W.I.P and Details

My Mom drawn from Life.

14 x 17 Drawing Pad // .o5 pencil, 45 minutes.

Detail.
It may have been Father’s Day, but the last hour was all about my Mom. I’ve wanted to draw her from life for a very long time. And somehow she finally let me. I now know she’s a very sensitive subject for me, as soon as I looked into her eyes I immediately felt a rush of emotion.
“Should I sit like this? or maybe I should put on more jewelry?!”
“Lol, it’s not that kind of portrait Mom”
For some reason I was trying to hold back tears when I captured the likeness. When I was finally done she just stared at it for a while, making comments here and there. But ultimately really liked it. While I was sitting on the other side wiping tears escaping from my eyes.
Needless to say it was a wonderful intimate experience.
“This really does look like me…wow…but next time I want more jewels and a pretty dress with my hair up.”
